Since I won Thank You For Not Being Perky’s Pay It Forward contest it’s time for me to hold my very own contest.  Leave a comment and I’ll have Nathan pull one out of a plastic tub and that person will get their very own box of goodies from me!  And nothing from the Target bins, I promise!  The winner also gets to host their own Pay It Forward! Just leave your comment / entry by midnight Pacific Thursday, August 7th

Need inspiration?  What’s your favorite room in your home?

  1. Heck, I’m in

    My favorite room: my bedroom.

(note: I couldn’t post this as a non-registered member of your page. You’re supposed to put in an anti-spam image….but there wasn’t an image??)

  2. We live in old, icky military housing; no room in this house (apartment, actually) is my favorite! If I had to pick though… man, I can’t choose! Seriously, I hate all the rooms equally. I do not discriminate.

    Thanks for the contest!

Do you have a yard or a porch of any kind? Often the out of doors is my favorite room in our homes!

  4. Oh, hey, I love the new layout!

I love my bedroom. The walls are a soft, warm butter yellow, and the wood is all dark with age. There are two windows, both of which catch the morning sun, so I wake up with sunlight, and I have a ceiling fan that manages not to squeak or rattle (touch wood). And my bed - my bed! My bed is my sanctuary, with its feather bed, piles of pillows, throw cushions, soft sheets, and enormous duvet covered in a yellow pin-striped cover. It’s warm and restful and welcoming in there, always.

Love your description! Now tell me about the wood. Is the floor the same color as the windows and trim? I’m thinking of having the wood stripped in the place, but the floors are a light color and I don’t want light woodwork.

The floor and woodwork are very different colors. The doors and windows and kickboards are dark, dark, dark, and the floor is honey colored - pine that’s aged and weathered. I really like the combination.

Perfect!! And I’ve decided lead based paint is possible - thus we HAVE to remove the paint. 8-)

  5. Hey Im here from swistle

  6. My glassed in front porch is my favorite room, if that can be considered a room. It’s wonderfully warm in the early spring and late fall making it THE place to be to curl up with a book. It’s exceptionally hot in the summer, but it’s still the most relaxing and cleanest spot in my house.

We’re removing our glass porch as it was installed in the 1970s and doesn’t fit architecturally with the 1928 house. I’m a little sad at the thought of losing a wonderful place to enjoy the snow, yet still be in doors!

  7. My favorite room in my home used to be my bedroom, but now it’s my craft room. My hubby put up wall shelves for storage and built me a new countertop with cabinets/drawers underneath. Beautiful and inspiring! (At least when it’s not completely littered with crap all over the place!)

Thanks for the chance to win!

Fortunately my husband works for a cabinet company (Marsh Furniture) so he was able to hook me up. He brought home some kitchen and bath cabinets and countertops at a discount. Lucky for me!

Have a blast in your studio! It’s so great to have your own space.

  10. My living room is my favorite. I love the colors of my walls, some beutiful not boring greyish, brownish, purple (now that doesn’t sound pretty but, it is). I love my antique white leather occasional chairs and all of my turqouise, white, cream and brown accessories that make me feel like I am at a chic beach.

  11. I think it’s our guest bedroom. It has my old bed in it which I adore. It’s an old antique iron bed that my father restored for me. It also has a very 80s Laura Ashley comforter than I coveted for years and finally bought for myself and now can’t part with (Patrick nixed it on our bed which is just as well since it’s a full and we have a queen).

All my clothes and the treadmill are also in the guest bedroom. That room had the largest closets of all the bedrooms :-). Pretty much everything in that room is mine only. I love Patrick but I was so single for so long and that room is a reminder of how independent I used to be. Not that I would trade this life for that one, but there’s just a lot of memories that room invokes for me.

I held onto my bed from before David forever. Like yours, it represented the me before David.

Do send me your address so I might package up a little something something for you! And then you get to hold your very own contest!

  12. My favorite room is our living/family room because we have windows all around and the light floods the room when it’s sunny. It’s stunning when you first walk in and see it after being in a dark hallway.

  15. My favorite room is my bedroom– It’s totally not me. I’m a naturally hyper person, but my bedroom is very calm and together. It’s perfect to relax in.
