We did it. We spent many, many hours today going through many, many baby furniture stores, but we did it. The furniture is ordered. It’s a bit darker than pictured, but it should go fabulously with our Brazilian cherry hardwood floors. Oh, and I get to replace the knobs with something a little more funky and modern. Should be here in about two weeks. Color me freaked the f*ck out.
Another thing that was freaking me out was the fact I hadn’t really felt the little guy today. Yesterday he was all over the place and apparently dancing the flaminco at the same time. Today, not so much. Could have been all the shopping lulled him to sleep - it was starting to wear me out. So I did what any irrational pregnant woman would do. At 11:30 pm I ate two handfuls of Canbury mini eggs. Twenty minutes later he was a wiggling and a jiggling again. Now I’m on a sugar high and fear the codeine laced cough syrup is the only thing that will put me to sleep tonight.
Codeine and some air conditioning. Should it really be the 85 it was today. In March? I think not. And yet as we rounded the bay on 680 the car read 85 degrees. Crazy. Too bad David isn’t pregnant. Then we’d have on the air.
Speaking of David, he still hasn’t felt the Pinenut kick. Everytime I curl up beside him and have him put his hands on my enormous belly the baby gets all stubbron and either stops kicking, or my personal favorite, kicks much, much harder somewhere else. Takes after his mom, I see. Let’s just hope he has my feet too.
I have my gestational diabetes test on Tuesday. I guess I should be worried about it considering my “advanced maternal age,” alas I am more concerned my OB is going to take one look at my still incredibly stuffy nosed and coughing self and tell me I have to go in for I.V. antibiotics or something equally unpleasant. He doesn’t like his pregnant patients to be sick. Especially for what will be 17 days.
Ok, I think I am starting to wind down. I shall go be a good little girl and swallow my medicine and then curl up somewhere cool and try to sleep.

I’m putting on my doctor hat here, uh, coat. Whatever. Anyway, you don’t need to have IV antibiotics for a sinus infection. If you’re not allergic to penicillin, Augmentin works great, and if you are, Zithromax or a Zpack is fine. A Zpack doesn’t work as well for sinuses, since you really need something that penetrates the sinuses better, but most people seem to be happy with it.
Both of those meds are perfectly safe in pregnancy, and the Zpack is what we use to treat pregnant women with Chlamydia. Which is not a flower, as you know.
I had to be on augmentin for a while when I was pregnant and did just fine.
So, uh, good luck with that. And your nursery furniture is lovely.
