We, and by “we” I mean “I” as David just held my hand, had an amniocentesis two weeks ago. This morning Kaiser called to tell me that the Pinenut has 46 perfect chromosomes. The AFP score, which diagnoses over 99% of Spina Bifida and other neural tube defects, was “perfect.” I thought I was okay with the test and that I wasn’t really worried. Ha! I cried harder than I’ve cried in years while on the phone with the genetic counselor.
All is well and we are relieved.
Ps. Oh, and he is really a he! I SO got out of the sex talk!

You think that’s good — I had six extra chromosomes.
That’s like scoring 105% on a test, right?
Right?

I came around to the wonder of little boys after mine was born in April. Wouldn’t trade him for anything. :)

Oh, that’s so great. My gyn botched the amnio so bad I refused to have it again and took my chances. We were fine. Glad you are, too!
