Bah. I need to pick up my knitting needles. I’ve started a couple things, but then I set them aside as I’m afraid I’m jinxing the PineNut’s health. How goofy is that? Like I’m going to miscarry because I made a hand knit sweater in which s/he can come home. I have the big ultrasound next Wednesday, maybe I can pick up the needles then. In the meantime I’ll just continue wearing David’s shirts while they still close around my “waist” as mine stopped around New Year’s. No, that has nothing to do with knitting, why do you ask?

Last night I discovered the perfect business opportunity – for someone so inclined. I had the thirst that only something sweet with bubbles would quench. After midnight. After we were all settled in bed. I get up and get dressed because I am so not going to be that woman who says, “Please? Pickles and ice cream. Please?” and then her man gets in the car in the middle of the night when the thermometer has dropped below freezing. Nope, not me. Although, my man did voluntarily come with me. We head out to the market only to find there is not a single Splenda sweetened pop that doesn’t contain caffeine. Seriously people? Someone needs to come up with one and stand outside the OB clinics across America. There’d be a stampede. A stampede I tell you!

Speaking of the cold, and we were just see the above paragraph. Dude, it is seriously cold here. The thermometer in the car as we were heading to the market (a bit after midnight) read 31 degrees. Which means it got a lot colder. Now those of you who live where it gets colder I don’t want to hear it. I live in California. We just don’t get that cold. Saturday night? We’re supposed to hit 20 degrees. If it is going to be this cold I want snow.

And speaking of cold, I woke up with one yesterday. There ought to be a law that pregnant woman cannot have colds. That and that all Splenda sweetened pop contain no caffeine.

  3. I’m keeping an eye out for Splenda-sweetened non-caffinated pops for you now. Another thing you might want to try is stevia, a natural sweetener (http://www.stevia.com/ for info) that you can get in liquid form to add to your foods and drinks. Friends turned me on to it; it’s very good! All natural, probably baby safe (though I know you’re smart enough to ask just in case).

Speaking of business opportunities, however, have I ever got one for you (especially with your knitting talents)!

Last summer I went to a friend’s baby shower where the couple was waiting until the baby was born to find out the gender (girl, by the way, and I predicted correctly. Just as I’m predicting your boy). :)

In any case, as she was opening all her neutral-colored gifts, the thought occurred to me about how darling it would be to find a little outfit, sweater, onesie, whatever that was exactly half blue, half pink, with wording such as: “They wouldn’t find out ’til I arrived!” or “Don’t blame me for my fashion sense; they wouldn’t tell” or something similar. :-)

If I had ANY clothing making talent whatsoever I would have done something like this for them but I have none. Can you just imagie that with little booties (one pink, one blue) and a little hat (again, half and half)? I bet you could earn a fortune knitting and selling little half-n-half sweaters!

  4. Wow, that is cold for California. My son lives down in LA and he told me it is cold, but he didn’t give specifics.

Your proposed new laws sound reasonable enough.

    I’m in.

    Best,
