Every once in awhile I forget that I am pregnant. Then the queasies hit and I think I have the flu. Sure, it’s just for a few seconds, but my first thought isn’t morning sickness. When I cry at commercials I start to berate myself for being a goober. Then I remember hormones. The weirdest was this weekend while we were lounging in bed I rolled over and I had the round ligament pain. For the record I hate the round ligament pain. Anyway, it hurt so I squeaked and rubbed at the pulling sensation. David pulled the covers down and leaned over my tummy and said, “Stop hurting your mother.” Mother? Who? Me? Wha? Weird.
Finding out early that I was pregnant helped us get our holiday stuff done. I think we started the weekend we found out – just in case I got laid out with morning sickness and the like. Now everything that needs to be on the east coast has been wrapped and shipped. The presents we are taking down south next week are wrapped and ready to go. The stuff for my Dad? Wrapped and ready to go. Basically we need stocking stuffers and we’re ready to go, Hugo. And I might suggest skipping the stockings this year. Nothing like showing up at someone’s house and finding no place to hang your stocking! Do they have even fireplaces at the beach in North Carolina?
Speaking of Christmas presents, and we were, I finished the hat I was making for David’s niece. It’s cuter than the picture. I was bemoaning not taking a picture before I wrapped it and shipped it off. Then I was cleaning out the camera and I found one from before the blocking. So this is what we’ve got. It’s unblocked here it so it looks long and pointy, when it is, in reality, the shape of a head. I hope it’s perfect for her. I’ll find out while we’re in Charleston.
I wonder if I can convince the girls in our party to have a spa day in Charleston? My lower back would be thrilled if I could. Going down the stairs I’ve noticed my center of gravity seems to have changed a wee bit. And my lower back isn’t pleased about carrying around the extra cup sizes my new breasts require. That goes away soon, right?
Ok, no more baby stuff. For now I shall go downstairs and make us some pumpkin risotto.

Without the blocking, the hat looks cute in a Sr. Seuss sort of way!

Sorry, it won’t go away soon! But it is amazing what your body is able to do.
