If hockey wasn’t dead to me I’d be up in arms about Carolina – barring any further miracles pulled out of Edmonton’s ass – being less than thirty game minutes away from hoisting The Cup. Alas, hockey is dead to me so I don’t even know that Carolina is less than thirty minutes away from bringing it all home. I did love that the ‘Canes fans were signing along with the Canadian national anthem. I mean, I would have loved it if hockey wasn’t dead to me. Stupid hockey.
Last night we watched Firefly. David is a big fan. Me? Right. Cowboys in space? Sounds just like a princess movie, and thus right up my alley, doesn’t it? I know I’m late to the party, but why wasn’t I invited before now? Hello! Joey Buchanan! Freaking hot. Seriously freaking hot. Hot enough that I had a hard time actually watching the show and not just muttering “Freaking. Hot.†over and over again. David wishes I’d call him by his character’s name, which is Captain Something or other. Mostly, he’s Joey “I’m freaking hot†Buchanan from One Life To Live. I can’t remember the last time I had a tv crush as passionate as this one. He’s just that hot, people.
So My Jessika and her mom were in town for the last few days. Lovely, lovely guests. And they brought amazing weather. We had lunch in Sausalito on Thursday and we got a bit sunburned sitting on the deck overlooking The City. I constantly told them to soak it up, as it is never that nice on the Bay in June. After lunch we started out for Half Moon Bay and instead we ended up having an adventure with Riley the dog and netted ourselves some cash for caviar the next day. We made it home in time to hit Target and Trader Joe’s before having Jon, Jennie, and Raven over for fish tacos. Love me some fish tacos.
Friday we did the Napa Valley Wine Train and followed that by a picnic in Half Moon Bay. We learned a few things:
- As hot is Nathan Fillion – Joey Buchanan – he ain’t nothing compared to how hot it is in Napa in June.
- Wine helps beat the heat.
- Squab sucks.
- Dean & Deluca rocks my socks.
- You really should blink when you watch the sunset – or you’re going to see flashes that are every color, but green.
- Caviar is from heaven – even when eaten in the car because the wind is blowing a bit.
- David is freaking funny.
- I really wish Jessika and I lived closer to each other.
Saturday we did Muir Woods and hit a yarn store in Mill Valley before heading back into Sausalito to picnic on Dad’s boat. More sunburns because apparently I’m a big fat liar and June is not foggy on the Bay. We cruised home and took care of you chores before a big carbonara supper.
Sunday they left and I was sad. We did manage to drive across every single bridge in the Bay Area during their trip. I’m a big geek in that I’m tickled pink we did crossed a billion bridges this weekend. Bless the Fast Trak.
I was sad so I did yard work. I pulled up the baby tears which is latin for “Cat Box” as the two cats next door seem to think that spot is their litter box. I replaced the baby tears with some of the pretty blue flowers that invited themselves to our backyard and gerbera daisies. More clay pots for the front stoop.
Did I mention that Nathan Fillion is hot?
