Ahhhhhhhhhhhh. Last night we slept in our own bed, with no one else in the house, for the first time in, I think, three weeks. David’s cousin stayed with us for several days back in the middle of May. While he was still here, I went to Denver to see my Jessika. The day I came home from Denver we left for Disneyland. We came home and went from the airport to our attorney’s office. From our attorney’s office we went to the airport to pick up a friend who had agreed to be a witness in our case. Two days later we put her on a plane and then we got on a plane. A weekend in the L.A. area and last night we came home. We don’t leave again for, I think, three weeks. Between now and then David looses a few wisdom teeth and my Jessika brings her mom to come play at our place. Camping after that and following that, Denver. Whew!

Look at these faces!
Denver was awesome. I love spending time with My Jessika and her family. It is, however, always a little bittersweet. I look forward to my visit so much that as soon as I get there I start worrying about having to leave. Don’t write in. It’s lame. I know. Aside from the being sad about leaving I had a wonderful time. Plus! Plus! Plus one of them said my name; I thought my heart was going to literally burst out of my chest.

Disneyland was amazing. Not a lot of heat. In fact it was downright chilly the first day. Not a lot of stupid people – I don’t think we spent more than twenty minutes in any line. And since we were celebrating my birth month I got to decide which rides and when we rode them! It’s good to be the queen!

The hotel at California Adventure is awesome! It’s a grown up hotel. Great linens. Fantastic service. Amazing architecture. I’ve decided I’m completely enthralled by the arts and crafts era. Such a beautiful hotel and we only saw ONE set of Mickey Mouse ears! And they were hidden in a pattern in the concrete around the swimming pool. It’s certainly my favorite place to stay in Southern California.

We ate at the Napa Rose while were there. Thanks to Nate we sat at the Chef’s table. I watched them make my risotto and the chef personally convinced me to have the cheese plate for dessert. I do know now that I can’t have ANY imported blue cheese. I had a smidgeon of an English cheddar with a vein of blue running through it. I’m not sure I actually swallowed it before my face turned bright pink and flushed incredibly hot. I spent the rest of the night in a Benadryl induced fog. Other than that it was the perfect trip!

Lowe’s is settled. And after we eventually get to sign the settlement agreement we aren’t allowed to say not nice things about them. EDIT: Removed the benign not nice things I said about Lowe’s because it makes David uncomfortable. /EDIT We basically got just enough to cover the original floor, as well as our expenses, and just enough left over to finish the floor ourselves. But it’s over. It’s amazing what a full night’s sleep feels like. It’s been a long time since I’ve slept through the night without worrying about it.

Oh? Did I mention that on the way home from the attorney’s office last week we decided we’re done with the house and we’re moving? We’ve got quite a list of chores to do before we can put the house on the market. Not the least of which is finishing the debacle that was the hardwood floor installation. We’re aiming for late fall. Then we’ll just need to find something in Mountain View or Palo Alto – downtown proper in both cities - that is under $1,000,000 and doesn’t have common walls. Easy peasey! Ha! Plus, we’d like it to have a roof. And at least four walls to hold up said roof, but we’re not too picky.

We spent this last weekend in Southern California. David went to a conference and I spent time with our friends. My friend, Sarah, went to the senior prom and my goodness if she didn’t look like Princess Grace. She is simply stunning and alas she is 15 so she doesn’t know she is stunning. She needed a handbag to complete the ensemble. Ta-da! I used Moda Dea Zing in “pearl” and knit it up on US size six needles. I made it up as I went along, but I cast on 50 stitches and knit in stockingette until it was five inches tall. Cast off and started another piece exactly the same. Sarah wanted it lined and as I have exactly zero experience with lining I thought it might be easier to do two sides, line each, and then seam the whole kit and kaboodle together. The handle is a sterling silver chain and cut glass beads that match her dress. The finished size is approximately 7″ x 4.5″. It might be my favorite finished object ever.

Although this is a close second. When I was in Target with Tracey she found these great “jewels” and I thought they’d be perfect to finish up the collage in my office nook. It looks way better in person and on my wall than in the picture, but it at least gives you an idea. While it’s cool it isn’t nearly as cool as the work of Tracey art I now have hanging over my computer. That is inspiring!

This weekend David gets his wisdom teeth yanked right on out. I see a weekend of knitting and movie watching!! In between taking care of him, of course. And the knitting will be in something organic as the polyester I used for the hand bag really did a number on the joints in my yarn hand. I’ve become a yarn snob! Yarn snob!

For now I shall catch up on email and get to work on client projects I’ve had on the back burner for a while. Consider yourselves caught up.
